Plates for the New Orleans Museum of Art's
Faust Heirlooms, a division of Ceramic Treasures, Inc, is honored to have been commissioned by the New Orleans Art Museum, (NOMA), to produce the official plates commemorating the exhibit, Jefferson’s America and Napoleon’s France. Faust Heirlooms is an American china decorator, and wholesale gift company located in New Iberia, Louisiana. The exhibit at the New Orleans Museum of Art is in conjunction with the Bicentennial Celebration of the Louisiana Purchase. It is scheduled for April 12, 2003 through August 31, 2003. The plates, which Faust has produced are available from the museum gift shop and from 20 participating restaurants in the "Plat du Jour" dining event. The "Plat du Jour" dining event is new to New Orleans. It is a cooperative event with NOMA and the restaurant industry. Participating restaurants have created special dishes to be served on the plates produced by Faust Heirlooms. Customers will be able not only to dine on these unique plates but also take them home as a souvenir or collect them for entertaining or table service. E. John Bullard, the Montine McDaniel Freeman director of the New Orleans NOMA, during a press conference on April 1, 2003, at the Pavilion of the Two Sisters in City Park, mentioned that this is a popular program in Europe but is believed to be the first in the United States. He knows of no other museum that has participated with the restaurant industry to create "truly inspired dishes."The plates produced by Faust Heirlooms for NOMA are vitrified china. The plates are simple and elegant. The color of the each plate is white and the custom decoration is black; they compliment any décor or table setting. Each plate is of a porcelain clay composition kiln fired to approximately 2500 degrees Fahrenheit giving the plate durability, specifically designed for restaurant use. The glaze used on the plate is lead free and the plate meets FDA guidelines for dinnerware. Each plate is hand decorated in our facility, with the official designs for the exhibit. The decoration on the plate is a ceramic transfer. The ceramic transfers are produced in house using lead free and cadmium free inks. The decoration is kiln fired onto the plate in our facility creating a permanent image. The plates are dishwasher safe, microwave safe, and safe for use in warming drawers. There are two plate designs offered, one honoring each Jefferson and Napoleon. The Jefferson plate features a Federal star and his well known signature. The Napoleon plate bears his signature and his monogram, the familiar imperial "N" encircled by a laurel wreath. Both are sure to be a collectors item; production is limited. They are the official plates for the exhibit and each feature the exhibit logo on the back of the plate.Products by Faust Heirlooms are "Certified Products of Louisiana" by the State of Louisiana.
